Re: Best edition to start?

The 1959 edition includes horizontal tonal gravity so for that alone is worth studying. The latest edition starts with the theoretical background.

Re: Supra Vertical approach.

Interesting observation. Have you heard the Ornette recording 'Live at the Hillcrest Club', w Paul Bley? It's in YouTube. It's quite extraordinary. It's hard for me to separate 'Ornette' from Billy Higgins and Charlie Haden. Paul Bley was and is brilliant.
Hi Fer! The more I look into tonal gravity / lcc, the more I feel and beleive that scales are not important at all. You choose whatever set of tones you want, and tonal gravity tells you how far from any chosen tonal center that set is...
The scales are important in ...

For me incorporating some horizontal aspect to the realization is the 'glue' that makes a super-vertical approach work. Really, when you think about it, so much music simultaneously incorporat...

Thank you for your response. I've been having too much fun playing and listening to that chart. Once again the LCC opens up some unexpected doors.

query for Motherload

Hey Motherload, I was looking at your TG chart of the Lydian Scale and noticed at the far right under +4 it says '2' intervals. According to the LCC the tonic interval of a +4, in the context of the Lydian Scale, so C Lydian C to F#, the interval tonic is C, the bottom note. I realize that a tritone...
