Re: chart A. 7th#9 chord @(VII) of lyd. aug. !?
Hi Anatole, We have discussed this before, I think, and I don't ever remember hearing a solid explanation. I can only guess that it has something to do with chord families... trying to figure out the quality of the chord family as a whole. II (the Seventh/Altered Seventh family) is somewhat easier b...

Re: Is appropiate to ask about chart intervalo for horizonta
Hmm, well if I had to analyze G Bb D#(Eb) F#, I would say it comes from Eb Lydian. It has 3 notes in the Lydian scale, and only one from the 9TO. (The stack of notes is the WOTG, shown with the LT at the bottom). E Ab Db F# <- B A D G <- C F Bb <- Eb <- Compare to Bb, where 2 are from the Lydian, 1 ...

Re: Math and the LCC - with an example
Isaac,
Thanks for sharing. I have checked out your papers. While I have not gone over the math in detail, I might have an inkling of what you're getting at.
Is it possible to explain your idea in words and music? I am looking forward to the musical examples.

Re: Is appropiate to ask about chart intervalo for horizonta
Anatole, There is no explicit explanation of that ACTIVE/PASSIVE/NEUTRAL chart that I have ever seen. IMO, I do think that the notes beyond the 7TO can simultaneously be seen in two ways: as being "outgoing" tones in a vertical sense, or being "active horizontal tones". So I do t...

Hi Fer,
There is not a "tonal gravity" interval chart for htg as there is for vtg.

Re: Math and the LCC - with an example
Hi Isaac,
Yes, I think I understand you. I was wondering about additional insight into the perennial questions of why the WOTG skips a fifth, and why the Lydian ladder of fifths has a natural limit of 7 notes.

Isaac,
Do you think the math adds perspective on the 5 remaining notes in the lydian chromatic scale?

Re: Back to the Interval Chart.
Thank you Anatole and Fer, for your kind words. Glad you got something out of the post. Anatole said: I once asked why a voicing like C E G Ab sounds Ab lyd aug and not C lyd aug ? This is a pretty interesting example Anatole. A vertical C and a vertical Ab interpretation seem quite similar in terms...

Re: Back to the Interval Chart.
Hi Fer, There are two factors that contribute to this chart. The first factor is that there are the "tonal orders": 7TO (Lyd), 9TO, 10TO, 11TO, and 12TO. We must use all the 7TO intervals first. 7 TO intervals can only contain notes that are within the first 7 notes of the WOTG (the notes ...

Re: Back to the Interval Chart.
So what chart are you looking at? One of the interval charts? Is it from the old book, or is it one of the new ones that I or someone else made up from the new tonal order?

It is somewhat of an advanced topic. It can give ideas on how to space intervals in composition.

Re: Mother Of Tongues
Hi SalKur,
There have been a number of posts deleted from this thread and others, so it some threads may be hard to follow.
The Mother Chord can be found on p.243 of the Thesaurus of Scales and Melodic Patterns, by N. Slonimsky.
It contains 12 tones and 11 intervals.

Re: Sad...
Why be sad? Why don't you start discussing the LCC if you want there to be discussion? Make observations, share what you're working on, ask questions. I admit I am tied up in other projects with deadlines right now and won't be on a lot. But still, if you are concerned, surely you must have somethin...
