Scale Degree Modulation is based on t...

SMG Hypothesis

II is the PMG of choice for an SMG makeover, with VI coming in second.
Treating a II like a VI gives it a 11th or sus 4 vibe.
The LA is a preferred parent scale for the SMG.

The choice for a SMG looks like it could be anything, so should be examined in context to see if there's a pattern.

A Closer Read of the 4 Horizontal Scales

1. Major is major
2. Major Sharp 5th: with the (V) aka Major Bebop scale; without the (V) aka VI harmonic minor.
3. Major Flat Seventh aka Mixolydian mode.
4. African-American Blues Scale is a composite of major and the blues hexachord (1 b3 4 b5 5 b7).

The  was in reference to the "set theory calculator" reference.

An effective 'slide rude' can be created by taking the 'The Lydian Chromatic Order of Tonal Gravity" table (http://lydianchromaticconcept.com/lccoto_2.html), setting the Interactive circle of fifths to the Lydian scale at the tonic of choice, and mentally juxtaposing Chart A. (Accommodating, of...

It sounded to my drummer's ears that Sr. Rubalcaba went through Charts A-Z on his solo. He's really fired up on that clip. I heard him live and his playing was quiet, sensitive, and austere. What a range of emotion this guys got. My old trio mate, Jeff Chambers, played with him for a while. I wonder...

Can you say more about that?
